Helpful hints for creating great stores & descriptions
Want to know how to create a better store front on Daisy Craft?
First of all, you need to understand that the "Body" and "Description" areas of your Store Page and Product Listings are done in an HTML format. There are two types of HTML formatting available for you to choose from. HTML is the acronym for the code used to create the functions of a Web site. You control the look of your store and product listings by manipulating the HTML code.
Don't feel overwhelmed! It is easier than it sounds!
First, you need to know some basic "Must-Dos" in HTML. When you want text to "do something" like be a specific color, size or even blink you have to tell it to do so by creating HTML Tags.
HTML tags (or commands) are created by using these three symbols: < > /
You have to first "open a tag" <...> and then close a tag .
For example, if you want the word to be in bold, you do this: < strong >These words will be in bold< / strong > *However, you don't leave the spaces in between the symbols, we did so that you could see what it looked like without performing the actual function. The words you type in between the tags will do what you've told it to do in the tag.
Second, you need to make sure that your "Input Format" is turned on to which type of HTML you want. On Daisy Craft we have "Filtered" and "Full."
Filtered= when this is selected, the only allowed tags are listed. Other tags that are used outside of this list will not function.
Full= The majority of HTML codes are allowed when you click on Full HTML. If you want to create blinking words, blink is a command only allowed in the Full HTML version.
When you click on "Input Format" there is a link provided to help you know what some of the codes are and what they will look like after you put them into your body/description areas.
Take a moment now to play around with some simple codes and see what you can do!
If you're feeling confident, then you can start doing more advance codes and really create nice layouts and pages. There are great places on the Internet that can provide some free tutorials, free codes and help for you. Google "HTML color codes, HTML help, HTML tags" and so forth to find the help you're looking for.
